Tiger Cove Campground and Grill - Anderson / Lake Hartwell, South Carolina

Tiger Cove Campground and Grill
Lake Hartwell
4023 Whitehall Road
Anderson, SC 29626
864-225-5993

Whether you are looking to rough-it in a tent or camper or just want an alternate to the stuffy, drab, common hotel room – Tiger Cove Campground, in Anderson SC, has something to offer as well as being very affordable. The campground is clean and the cottages for rent have all the luxuries of home but with a view of Lake Hartwell that would make the most prestigious lake-front homeowner envious.

Campsites range from primitive campsites to more spacious sites with full RV hook-ups. And the option for long-term rental is ideal for those working out of town or the more committed adventurer who wants to spend more than just a few days fishing or exploring.

The campground is privately owned and operated by the Lash family. They also operate the on-site Tiger Cove Grill, which is only a short stroll from any of the sites. So, if your visiting the Pendleton area, attending a Clemson football game, fishing in a tournament, or simply want to get away for a few days, contact Becky Lash for rates and availability or check their website. Also, you can click here to see a detailed account of a Tiger Cove visit along with other local attractions and many wonderful pictures.

The Village Bakery - Pendleton, South Carolina

The Village Baker
108 E. Main Street
Pendleton, SC 29670
(864) 646-5800

Check your Google Maps! If you are anywhere within a 2-hour drive of The Village Baker in Pendleton SC and you love fresh pastries and bread, then it will be well worth the drive! All of the pastries and breads are made from scratch, even the fillings. The textures, flavors, and scents are an experience unto themselves. They are only open Wednesday through Saturday, so plan ahead. I recommend a Saturday morning breakfast trip. Grab a Pecan Crisp and a cup of coffee before exploring the rest of the historic town of Pendleton.

The bakery is owned and operated by the Rizzo family. They originally started the business with the idea of having a part-time venture, mainly because they wanted fresh bread and pastries for themselves; however, they immediately drew the interest of a large surrounding population and now serve over a thousand people per week and are looking at selling some of their products nationally. Many of their customers drive for hours just to stock up on the many unique pastries and breads served at the bakery.

For more information on the bakery, check their website. Or, click here for a detailed account of a visit to the bakery along with pictures and information on other local attractions.

The Clemson Little Theater - Pendleton, South Carolina

The Clemson Little Theater
214 S. Mechanic Street
Pendleton SC
(864) 646-8100

What a find! We included a night at the Clemson Little Theater in our Pendleton SC road trip and have no regrets. The theater is clean and cozy and gives you the feeling of experiencing a true community theater. We definitely recommend adding a night at this theater to your travel plans if your are traveling to the area. And if you live in the area, why haven't you been?

“The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf” was performed the night we visited the theater. The lighting and sound of the theater was excellent and the seating was perfect. No straining to hear or see at this theater.

Look for actors Devin Beckerle and Julia Hiner in future productions. Beckerle played the part of Wallington Wellington Wolf III, a.k.a “The Big Bad Wolf.” His acting was superb. He truly made the show. He managed to master the subtle nuances of the fast-talking, quick witted and sly character known as the Big Bad Wolf. His timing was always on mark. As for Hiner, she definitely deserves a larger role in future productions. She played the part of Town Crier and appears to be a natural actor.

Check the theater's site for more information on the theater and upcoming productions. Or, click here for a detailed account of a visit to the theater in Pendleton SC, along with information on other local attractions and pictures as well.

St. Paul's Episcopal Church - Pendleton, South Carolina

St. Paul's Episcopal Church
328 East Queen Street
Pendleton SC, 29670
(864) 654-5071
History buffs and ghost hunters be happy and beware – you'll find what you are looking for at the St. Paul Episcopal Church and it's graveyard in Pendleton SC. The Church was established in 1822 and many of the graves are from the same era.

There are several civil war graves of note and some of the grave stones, decorated with elaborate Celtic designs, are true works of art. The graveyard is wooded and picturesque and guaranteed to transport both mind and body to a different astral plane. As for the ghost – enter after dark – at your own risk.

Click here for a detailed account of a visit to the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, graveyard and other nearby attractions, along with more photos.
